GARBAGE COLLECTION 

 

Two (2) 30-gallon cans twice a week (see provided map for scheduled days of garbage collection). Private haulers are under Town contract so there is no charge to the customer. 

Residents: please put trash out the night before scheduled pick up or no later than 5am the morning of pick up. Thank you.

 
SCHEDULE PICKUPS

 

THE TOWN PICKS UP THE FOLLOWING ITEMS, FOR RESIDENCES ONLY, ON MONDAYS AND FRIDAYS WITH ADVANCE NOTIFICATION. NO ITEMS WILL BE PICKED UP THAT WERE PART OF A COMMERCIAL CONTRACT OR JOB.

FREE ORGANIC ITEMS (MUST BE IN A CONTAINER)

YARD WASTE is to be placed in a container. The Town Crew will pick up 2 containers (not to exceed 32 gallons each or equivalent of). For larger loads call Town Hall. These items must be separated from regular household garbage. 

FEE-BASED BULK TRASH - MAXIMUM 10 ITEMS PER REQUEST 

(ALL PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE AT TOWN HALL OR ONLINE)

  • Small Household Items (i.e. lamps, toys, stroller, etc.) - $10.00 each.  
  • All Household Appliances, Furniture, Electronics & Large Items - $25.00 each.

RECYCLING 

 

Recycling dome site at Vault Storage on the corner of High and Morgnec Rd. The site can be entered from 848 High Street.

 

NEVER PLACE IN TRASH OR RECYCLING – CAR PARTS, PAINT CANS, TIRES, OIL TANKS, PROPANE TANKS, NO CONTRACTOR’S WASTE, BULBS CONTAINING MERCURY, BATTERIES OF ANY KIND – INCLUDES LANDSCAPERS, PLUMBERS, ELECTRICIANS AND BUILDERS

 

YEAR-ROUND ORGANIC DISPOSAL

 

Grass clippings consisting of leaves, garden waste, small pruning, pine needles, and branches under 4” in diameter are considered organic disposal. 

NEVER mix gravel, dirt, flowerpots, bricks, concrete or lumber with yard waste, or a fee will be imposed. 

Yard Waste is to be placed in a maximum of 2 containers, not to exceed 32 gallons each or equivalent of. 

Tree Branch piles to be 4’ long x 2’ wide with 2’ high or less – 40 lb. maximum. 

Yard Waste and Grass Clippings will be picked up on Mondays and Fridays. It must be placed in a container and out before 7:00 a.m. to be picked up by noon. If it is not out before 7:00 a.m. it will be picked up the next scheduled day.

 

SEASONAL STREET SWEEPER SCHEDULE

 

October 1st through January 1st – Clean loose leaves and pine needles ONLY will be picked up by the sweeper truck once a week according to Ward:

  • Ward 1 – Monday
  • Ward 2 – Tuesday
  • Ward 3 – Wednesday
  • Ward 4 – Thursday
  • NO FRIDAY SWEEPER

Leaves must be out before 7:00 a.m. NO EXCEPTIONS. Loose leaves and pine needles must be placed at the curb line or on the shoulder of the road. DO NOT block gutters, storm drain inlets, fire hydrants or sidewalks and cannot be placed in the middle of the street. 

NEVER place any foreign materials such as lumber, stone, bricks, branches and/or any type of garden or flower bed stalks, etc. with loose leaves or pine needles. IF ANY FOREIGN MATERIALS ARE FOUND IN THE DEBRIS THERE WILL BE A $25.00 FEE IMPOSED FOR PICK UP. Foreign materials can cause personal injury to workers and pose a danger to the sweeper truck. 

IT IS UNLAWFUL TO SWEEP, BLOW OR OTHERWISE DISCHARGE OF GRASS CLIPPINGS AND LEAVES into any street, sidewalk, gutter, and storm drain inlet or water course. It clogs inlets and drainage pipes and ultimately causes damage to the storm drain system. ANY PERSON or BUSINESS found to be in violation will receive a fine of at least $25.00 but not exceeding $100.00 for each offense. 

You must call Town Hall to schedule a pickup or make a request online for large piles of brush. Payments must be made at Town Hall or online and once we receive payment for the service, pick up will occur. Contractors or any persons receiving compensation from residents for yard work are required to remove yard waste, debris, or any brush created by them. If not, the resident will be charged a fee for removal.
