Ethics Commission Rules of Procedure
The Town Ethics Commission is composed of five members and two alternates appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. The members are appointed for terms of three years. The Commission is advised by the Town Ethics Commission Attorney, Pamela L. Duke, Esquire, and has the following responsibilities:
- Devise, receive and maintain all forms generated by this chapter;
- Provide published advisory opinions to persons subject to this chapter as to the applicability of the provisions of this chapter to them;
- Process and make determinations as to complaints filed by any person alleging violations of this chapter; and
- Conduct a public information program regarding the purposes and application of this chapter.
To File A Complaint: Print and fill out the Ethics Complaint form. All Ethics complaints must be officially filed in writing. No verbal complaints will be accepted. File the complaint along with seven (7) copies of the complaint with the Chestertown Town Clerk at 118 N Cross Street, Chestertown.
Please do not contact the members of the Commission or Ethics Attorney. They cannot accept the complaint, written or verbal or discuss the matter outside of a closed forum. All Ethics Law Commission meetings are closed and confidential.
