Maryland Tax Connect

On September 1, 2026, the Office of the Comptroller of Maryland is launching Maryland Tax Connect for Individual Taxpayers, a new online tax portal that replaces our legacy systems, including iFile and the current online bill payment system. Maryland’s core tax infrastructure is more than 30 years old, and this transition modernizes the platform with real-time account balances, easier payment options, complete filing history, and improved self-service tools, all in one place.

To complete this migration, certain filing and payment services will be temporarily unavailable beginning in late July. We want constituents to have plenty of time to act before those deadlines.

KEY DATES

July 24 -  July 24 is the last day, by 4:30pm, for in-person payments of paper checks to be accepted at Branch Offices for personal income, pass-through-entity, and fiduciary taxes. During this transition, we will only accept electronic payments and money orders. The Comptroller’s Office will resume accepting paper checks for these tax types on September 1.

July 29 -  July 29 is the last day, by 11:59 pm, for individuals to electronically file a return or make a payment on our website. Online filing and payments for individuals will resume on Maryland Tax Connect on September 1.

August 20 -  August 20 is the last day, by 11:59 p.m., to electronically file and pay Business Taxes via the Maryland Tax Connect portal. The Comptroller’s Office will resume normal operations on September 1 in Maryland Tax Connect.

August 21-31 -  All systems are down for the final migration. During this period, payments by e-check and credit card will be accepted and debited from bank accounts, but will not be posted to the taxpayer account until after September 1. Learn more by visiting //MarylandComptroller.gov/Payments.

September 1 -  Maryland Tax Connect for Individual Taxpayers is live. All services resume in the new portal.

Important note: No penalties will be assessed for any payment or filing due during the outage window.

E-check payments remain available throughout the entire transition period and are a fast, free, and secure way for constituents to stay current on payments. More information is available at //MarylandComptroller.gov/Payments.
